Yvonne Glasgow Grand Rapids punk has some amazing bands, and this is one of them. Happy they released this on vinyl. It's a great album, and you'll find yourself playing it through a few times each listen. Favorite track: Fairy Tales.

Musically, Antilogical is mostly an old school punk rock band. What sets them apart is singer/guitarist Dustin Anderson’s voice. It’s a squawk that sort of floats over the instruments like a disembodied spirit. The lyrics range from relatively serious to relatively absurd. A-side opener “WWHD” starts off with some hard, funky bass before it really kicks into gear. Overall, the bass lines are more complex than your average punk band. On “Plastic Safe”, some of the words are delivered in the spoken word style of Jello Biafra or maybe Doc Dart (Crucifucks). The surf influenced guitar is a bit reminiscent of ‘East Bay’ Ray too. “Lie for Lie” and “Fairytales” on the B-side follow a similar formula. The songs are all in the 2-3 minute range, and there’s not a bad one in the bunch.

W.W.H.D. 02:24
You never done me right now you're going on my list. Move away from this fucking town and become a communist. Made my way across this country fighting with my fists. Found a Jesus bracelet now I'm a Socialist (singing) What would Horace do. He's a selfless peaceful man he don't need to pray or wish. He'd never start a war and make friends with the Fascist. Hang out where he's needed the most among the filth and sick. Celebrating LOVE and who you LOVE is regardless. (singing) What would Jesus do. What Would the Holy Krishna do. Life is a community. That's what Buddha wants from you and me. We gotta treat each other with equality because in death we're all the same. Life is a community. That's what Horace wants from you and me. We gotta treat each other with equality because in death we're all the same. So join my club and drink the Kool-Aid and I'll tell you what's in it. Don't be a fool or a "chicken shit conformist like your parents"

Plastic Safe 02:26
Welcome to the doll house. You'll never notice how small it is. Windows made of plastic. Smoking is discouraged on the premises. You can leave your coat on. There is nothing warm in here. The luxury of safety. Nothing breaks and nothing rots. (you'll be) Safe Safe Safe Safe. No need to run no need to shout. Safe Safe Safe Safe. Circle the bowl until your time runs out. Choked in plastic Safe Safe Safe. Wisdom comes from TV. And nobody is qualified to say you're wrong. You can prove it on your Smartphone. Someone will back you up. Work will give you freedom. And release you from your struggle. History will show you. That everyone worth saving is just like you. (you'll be) Safe Safe Safe Safe. No need to run no need to shout. Safe Safe Safe Safe. Circle the bowl until your time runs out. Choked in plastic Safe Safe Safe. (you'll be) Safe Safe Safe Safe. No need to run no need to shout. Safe Safe Safe Safe. Circle the bowl until your time runs out. Choked in plastic Safe Safe Safe.

Lie for Lie 01:43
Lie for Lie, Lie for Lie, That's the truth and now you know. Lie for Lie, Lie for Lie, That's the truth and now you know. Politicize, Disguise, Televise, all the Lies. Lie for Lie, Lie for Lie, That's the truth and now you know. The shit's been thrown before. Landing at your front door. Gotta replay it in your mind. these cunts are ruining my good time. I'm gonna grow everything I own. Lie for Lie, Lie for Lie, That's the truth and now you know. Lie for Lie, Lie for Lie, That's the truth and now you know. Politicize, Disguise, Televise, all the Lies. Lie for Lie, Lie for Lie, That's the truth and now you know Let the hate rain down again. It's been 8 years my friend. You wrote it now hit send. the facts will set you free in the end. We don't need another Politician telling LIES. because all your power fucking corrupts. Lie for Lie, Lie for Lie, That's the truth and now you know. Lie for Lie, Lie for Lie, That's the truth and now you know. Politicize, Disguise, Televise, all the Lies. Lie for Lie, Lie for Lie, That's the truth and now you know

Fairy Tales 02:51
I'll turn my cheek for a lot of things but I don't have to fuckin' believe everything that you believe for you and me to be friendly. You better not speak for me. It's now all black and white it's not because you're wrong I'm right. Policing this and forcing that you're gonna get a fuckin' fight. You better not turn it on me. How can I take you seriously when you believe in Fairy Tales? I've been through the red and black and studied enough to know what is crap. Slain in the spirit and speaking in tongues I am the son I am the one. You better not push on me. Hypocrites and racist shits looking at live through negatives. Quoting from a holy place with that look of ignorance on your face. You better not speak for me. How can I take you seriously when you believe in Fairy Tales?

about

- by Nate Hennon

To me EPs service two purposes, they are samples for the band's next full-length album or they contain a handful of B-sides not good enough to be on a full-length. I hope that the latest from Michigan-based Antilogical, “Politilies”, is the appetizer to a great throwback punk album.
Antilogical manage to create a hard-hitting yet oddly melodic four-song EP. Their opening song, “WWHD”, starts with a Fugazi-style walking bass and builds to the surf-inspired sounds of the Dead Kennedys. I know this sound like an odd combination, but much like taking a shot of pickle juice with your bourbon (also called a Pickleback), it is a pair that should have been together years ago.
Antilogical’s throwback punk styling reaches new heights on “Lie for Lie". It starts slow, with a jam session intro, but once the drums kick in, Antilogical is off to the races. Which can be said about any of the songs on "Politilies". IF you seek a throwback back album and have ten minutes to spare, give Antilogical's " Politilies" a try, it's more fun than Rush's “Cygnus X-1″ (the only 10-minute song reference I have).
By the way, try a Pickleback on your next night out. The brininess of the pickle juice cuts through bourbon burn while still getting you tipsy. It is also fun to watch the uninitiated grimace at the thought when you tell them about their upcoming alcoholic adventure.
